New York, NY — Alan Melikdjanian, the creator behind the popular YouTube channel Captain Disillusion, has teamed up with the creator-built media company Nebula, bringing his extensive catalogue to Nebula’s popular streaming service and signing a first look deal with Nebula Studios.
Known for his expressive visual effects and digestible digital facts and debunking, Melikdjanian’s videos have been a hit on YouTube since the channel launched 18 years ago. With over 2.5 million subscribers and 278 million channel views since its inception, the channel will launch on Nebula.
Alan Melikdjianian said: “This is an opportunity for me to grow as a filmmaker, to pull up all those ambitious ideas that we, as a solo creators, are used to tossing into the “impossible” pile and actually pursue them. I intend to take full advantage of it.”

Melikdjanian’s first look deal grants Nebula Studios the opportunity to bring premium long-form ideas to the studio for development and partnership. Melikdianian hinted at a scripted sci-fi series in the pipeline.
Viewers with a keen eye may note that YouTube has re-encoded some of Melikdjanian’s videos, degrading the video quality on the channel. On Nebula, Melikdjanian’s video catalog will be available to stream at the highest quality.
