From director Patrick Willems and producers Dan Jinks and Dave Wiskus, Power Trip begins its theatrical run at Regal Essex Crossing September 24–30, followed by a nationwide rollout
NEW YORK (Tuesday, September 1) – Nebula, the largest creator-owned and operated independent media company, today announced a partnership with Regal Global Entertainment to distribute the short film Power Trip as part of its Oscar-qualifying theatrical run. The film will screen at Regal Essex Crossing in New York September 24–30, followed by a wider rollout at Regal locations nationwide.
Recently selected for the HollyShorts Film Festival, Power Trip follows a rideshare driver who ends up in a tense situation when a conversation with a passenger doesn’t go well. Written by Matthew Kelly (Nando v Movies) and directed by Patrick Willems (Night of the Coconut), the film is produced by Academy Award winner Dan Jinks (American Beauty) and Dave Wiskus (The Dinner Plan), and stars Amir Arison (The Blacklist) and Tony Award nominee Julia Knitel (Dead Outlaw). Select talent will participate in live Q&As following each 7:00 PM ET screening.
The partnership builds on Nebula’s recent collaboration with Regal-owned Picturehouse for the August 1 world premiere of the nineteenth season of its hit original Jet Lag: The Game. The event took place at Picturehouse Central in London, with a simulcast at Picturehouse cinemas across the UK, and welcomed more than 4,000 attendees over the weekend.
“The team at Regal has been a real delight. It’s so great to work with people who understand their role as stewards both of cinema’s legacy and of its future. We’re excited to watch Power Trip with audiences, and even more excited to watch those audiences argue about it in the lobby afterwards,” said Dave Wiskus, Power Trip producer and Nebula Founder.
“Patrick Willems has spent years championing movies and the people who make them, and we’re excited to now have the opportunity to champion one of his,” said Jack Grimes, Senior Director, Alternative Business Development at Regal. “Coming off its festival premiere, Power Trip now has the opportunity to build an audience around the country, and we’re excited for Regal to be part of where it goes next.”
Tickets for the Power Trip theatrical run at Regal Essex Crossing in New York go on sale September 3 at https://www.regmovies.com/movies/power-trip-live-qa-ho00022495.
